In Jeremiah 8:22 we see God asking questions to His people. He asks “Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there?” The answer is, “yes, there is”. Then why is the spiritual health of my daughter (Israel) not recovered? It is because ye have not visited the physician or applied the balm. Ye die because you have not taken the remedy which is available to you.
Here Israelites are represented as a man dying of diseases, and the cure for the diseases is available if the physician applies the balm. But the people are unwilling, they have become insensitive to their needs and have become proud to accept the remedy, they have sinned against God and provoked Him to destroy them. They were time and again warned by the prophet to repent and turn to God but they refused to do so.
God says “cure is available for every wound.” There is a balm in Gilead! which is the Blood of Jesus and there is a Physician there – Jesus, and every person who comes to him can be healed physically and spiritually. Then why is that we don’t go to Him? Why is there a delay?
Let us go to The Great Physician and receive healing from Him.
